As an experience creation agency, our team’s daily experiences mean a lot to us. Join our interns as they share their experiences via a multi-part blog series chronicling their summer journey here at Momentum.
I wanted to intern at Momentum from the moment that I visited the St. Louis office in March. The atmosphere was efficient, but overwhelmingly friendly, and I could instantly tell that it was conducive to a good creative environment and great work. I also loved the variety here; from type of medium to category of client, this seemed like a place where it would be hard to get burnt out or bored.
So far, this summer has been exactly what I’ve wanted out of an internship. I’ve been pulled in on different projects for multiple clients, and it’s always something fresh and exciting. It seems like Momentum can (and does) do anything when it comes to bringing creative ideas to life. The variety of creative thinking that I’ve not only been exposed to, but also pushed to explore myself, has been incredible.
The best feedback I’ve received so far has come from my manager, Laurie Ahrens. Laurie has a badass sense of humor, and knows how to balance unbridled wit with a client’s ask. When I first started giving her copy, I was playing it too safe. Laurie taught me not to be afraid to trust my gut on bold and funny writing, saying, “If anything, the first round is for you.” As a result, I’ve surprised myself by having the confidence to have fun with my writing — and many times, that’s the work that makes it to production.
I’ve been especially inspired by strong female leadership and presence in creative at Momentum. Hanging out with and learning from other female copywriters has been an awesome experience for me. They’d kick my butt for saying this, but these wonder women are my role models and continue to impress me every day. Hopefully one day some intern will be writing about me in the same vein—and then she’ll go grab me a cup of coffee. Just kidding.
